RIVER ARUN SWIMMERS’ ANNUAL EVENT – CAMPING / SWIMMING / BREAKFAST BBQ FOR SUPPORTERS AT STARTING POINT

Saturday 21st June 2025 (Start 09:10hrs).

This is the 17th year the River Arun Swim will take place and another unique chance to swim or watch the swimmers set off on the classic Ironman distance of 3.8km from Ford to Littlehampton.

The swim is extremely popular with all ages and abilities from 13yrs to 80+ are taking part and most participants swim the distance in less than 90min due to the tidal nature of the river. An amazing sight to watch at the start when the swimmers enter the river.

Unless camping at the Ship & Anchor campsite (the starting point) swimmers will arrive by coach at the Ship & Anchor Pub, Ford and then make their way swimming downstream to finish at the RNLI in Littlehampton.

Safety is an uppermost priority and there will be present and in attendance at all times crews from the Harbour Master’s launch, Maritime Volunteers, safety RIBS, supporting kayaks and Sussex Search & Rescue spotters and swimmer’s supporters on the river bank.

The start will be just after high tide at the Ship & Anchor Pub (09:10hrs) during the 30 minute period of slack water. Coaches will leave Ferry Road Littlehampton at 08:00hrs to take competitors to the holding point at the Ship & Anchor Pub where there will be a light breakfast BBQ for supporters.

After the race why not head back to the Ship & Anchor pub for lunch where you’ll be warmly welcomed with some great food and drinks and free parking.
