Launching from Ship & Anchor’s Private Slipway
Tide times shown above need to be translated into launch and recovery times for the Ship & Anchor slipway.
1. Our slipway cannot be used 1½ hours either side of low water Springs. This is the absolute limit. So what are the HW / LW times for the Ship & Anchor?
2. The tidal difference between Littlehampton Harbour (the Entrance) is 30 minutes.
For example, if HW Littlehampton is shown in the tide tables as 08:35 a.m., please add 30 minutes for HW Ford, which in this example will be 09:05 a.m.
3. Then, please check if the tide table shows its times as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) or British Summer Time (BST).
Normally tide tables show times in GMT. If so, then + 1 hour should be added for the local time at the Ship & Anchor.
Example: when is the earliest you can launch my boat which is in the compound?
If LW at Littlehampton tomorrow is 06:00 a.m. BST: add 1½ hours (one hour for summer time and half an hour for tidal difference between Littlehampton and Ship & Anchor), then LW will be 07:30 a.m. at the Ship & Anchor.
No launching can be done LW + 1½ so we can launch you any time after 09:00 a.m.
