Full-time KITCHEN PORTER / KITCHEN ASSISTANT
This position, a key role in the smooth running of a professional kitchen, your main role is to ensure the chef has all the pots, pans, plates, dishes, jugs, utensils, knives and cutlery that he needs to cook and serve professional dishes. This can be pressurised when the kitchen is busy.
Job tasks:
- Washing Up for the Chef (hand washing up then loading into the washer/steriliser)
- Unpacking washer/steriliser, checking highest standard of cleanliness and putting items back in their correct places available for chef to grab and use when needed without getting in the way of other busy kitchen staff;
- Emptying the bins when full replacing bags as required and placing full bags into rubbish bin outside;
- Keeping floor clean and safe when in use by busy kitchen staff without getting in their way;
- Fetching urgently needed supplies from freezer room outside for chef;
- Cleaning down daily after kitchen closes, bins, wiping down, de-greasing and mopping the floor and ensuring the kitchen is spotless and ready for next service;
- Assisting with Prepping ingredients for chef;
For those interested, this is an entry level position leading to a catering apprenticeship;
Full or Part-Time covering week-days and / or weekends / Bank holidays inc. Christmas, New Year and Easter.
